      Organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts are well worth the extra buck or two--considering you are not getting pesticides which have been proven to be very harmful to our health.

      What exactly are pesticides??  Pesticides are toxic chemicals which have been linked to childhood cancers, birth defects, neurological deficits, as well as prostate cancer.  Children are often more vulnerable to the harmful effects due to eating more fruits, etc in relationship to their body size.  Government testing has proven that conventionally grown produce can retain up to 13 pesticides, even after they have been washed.  Scientists have shown that in an average day that children often eat an average of 8 pesticides per day.   

      What can we do today to be healthier??  Eat more fruits, veggies, and nuts that have been grown organically.  Wash and rinse all fresh produce before eating it.  Buy locally grown when possible.  Imported fruits such as grapes may have harmful pesticides that are regulated differently then in the United States.    Organic food is grown and produced according to strict guidelines.  Support organic farmers--buy in bulk and be selective.  Choose organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts for children and others with compromised immune systems.  Protect our future--support farmer's markets, family farms, and other speciality stores who sell organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
